6th Grade Philosophizing

Post by Lynjabear on Tue May 29, 2012 7:23 pm

I was working on an english essay when I dug up an old "essay." This was written in my sixth grade year, when my parents made us write an essay a day. That essay, however, turned into a vent against my dad, because evidently I was mad at him. It also shows his control and it's a little depressing how much control he had... (Note - No changes have been made to correct spelling and grammar. I was in sixth grade; deal with it. Also, sorry if the race parts offend anyone...)

6/6/10

I once never understood why someone would ever run away. I realize it now. My parents belive in "absolute law," that whatever they order, must happen. I have almost always obliged. However, this is American, and the roots of rebellion are buried in every american person. It's part of our heritage. Today, when I questioned the equality of them forcing me to do a petty task for my little brother, and to continue to do this task for the better of a year, a "discussion" emerged. This quickly escalated, and finally, I asked in in a "Chinese household" the youngest son was always treated best, and they told me it was so and that unfairness was part of my life and I owed my brother to serve him. I did the menial task despite my emotions, though grudgingly. If a "Chinese household" is all about listening to your parents and doing exactly what they want you do, how can you be anything but a mere puppett, an extention of another will? What a terrible way to live a life. Sometimes I wish I wasn't born in this family, or any Chinese one. Suree, I'd miss the food, and some of the studying, but when I envision a world where all of my paren'ts things forced upon me (ex piano, chem) I'm pretty sure I would have a more posotive outlook on life. This is all wistful thinking.
People blame the Nazis for their deeds. But according to Chinese custom, they shouldn't. They were merely following their parents, Hitler's, orders.
Sometims, going at life from a new, better, angle seems like heaven, or the Garden of Eden: (thought I'm Agnostic) Beautiful, wonderful, and yet so elusive and utterly impossible to reach. ONe can never change their situation and can only change themself.
I think I'm regaining my composure, and kinda regret my thoughts.
I felt a lot better after I said sorry, even though daddy made me feel bad again.

LOL.

The fact that you accept your every movement being dictated is rather worrying. That's not healthy for an independent state of mind. It can be compared to schitzophrenia in the comparison that you have an outside 'person' that's dictating your actions, whether it is good or bad for the host.

? Not really. I don't have an issue with it at all, and I have an independent mind. I don't really do anything that my dad doesn't disapprove of, so it doesn't really affect me. And he knows what I should do and what is best for me, so it's alright Very Happy. It's not like he makes me do anything for himself.

*shrugs* I agree more with your sixth grade mindset than your current one.

Well,

You're going to be paying for their medical bills when they're older or not. I think some parents fail to realize this one.

They are essentially the same. I still have little fits of "rebellion" and near the end of the "essay" I was talking about how stupid my earlier thoughts were...

Guys, I'm living a great life and I love it. Is that enough to stop people from being concerned? It might look uncomfortable to you, but I'm fine with it!

No, what I thought was funny was the ridiculousness of my argument, such as going into philosophy to complain about some petty task I had to do, especially as I wrote petty in my original writing. The "Nazi" part I considered so inappropriate and irrelevant to my discussion that it became funny.

But Lyn, you have to remember you are on a whole different level of intelligence than the rest of us, so we are not smart enough to see the funnyness immediately. :3
